HLTAID011 — Provide First Aid

The standard for workplace first aid compliance

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is the minimum requirement for workplace first aid compliance across NSW. It's the certificate most employers, WHS officers and regulators ask for, and covers far more ground than a CPR-only course.

In this course you'll learn the skills and knowledge to provide first aid response and life support, manage one or more casualties, coordinate other first aiders, and handle an incident scene until qualified emergency help arrives — All training and assessment is completed during the face-to-face session — no online pre-learning required. Trained in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

• Recognise and assess an emergency situation
• Ensure safety for self, bystanders, and casualty
• Seek assistance from emergency services
• Perform CPR in line with ARC guidelines
• Provide first aid per established principles
• Manage the casualty in a respectful manner
• Obtain consent from the casualty where possible
• Use available resources to keep the casualty comfortable
• Operate first aid equipment per manufacturer instructions
• Monitor the casualty's condition and respond appropriately
• Accurately convey incident details to emergency services
• Report incident details per workplace/site procedures
• Complete workplace/site documentation, incl. incident reports
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality of information
• Recognise possible psychological impacts on rescuers
• Contribute to a review of the first aid response
